
There are two sessions. Both include a variety of workshops (90 mins in length) and presentations (45 mins in length).
Choose ONE workshop or presentation (S1 A - J) from Session 1 and ONE workshop or presentation from Session 2 (S2 A - K).

In this session, Maureen and her colleagues show how they teach the short story elective by tracing literary devices (magic wishes) and plots (Little Red Riding Hood) across time, genres and cultures. Ultimately, students are shown how to adapt classic tales and motifs for a Hong Kong context to produce contemporary HK stories. Louis Papachristou, a HK independent filmmaker, will also show some excerpts from a relevant HK film he is producing.

Coming from two schools of different bandings and cultures (one being EMI and another CMI), the presenters will share their administrative and teaching insights gained from their experiences in collaboration with NETs. This presentation will explore how and what the NETs could do to fit in and be most useful at their school. In particular, it will explore how to best deploy the NETs to make the most of their expertise and linguistic/cultural knowledge, especially in aspects such as material design, organizing English activities and promoting an English-rich environment in the school.
